Receiving appreciation

This week I want to talk about sharing appreciation and receiving it when it's offered. I have noticed we can say things that we really mean and they are overlooked, brushed over, squashed down, or just plain ignored. Here's a case in point…

Last week my daughter and I went to a spectacular New Zealand show called WOW® (World of Wearableart Awards Show) in Wellington. (The picture above is of garments from a previous WOW® show on display at Wellington airport.)…

What's Your Purpose?

Several years ago when I was completing my Nia white belt intensive, The Art of Sensation, one of the sessions involved writing your life purpose. This wasn't a new thing for me, and as I completed the exercise I looked around and felt pretty pleased with myself (okay if I'm honest - smug!) I wrote out something that was pretty spectacular and when my turn in the circle came, I stood and read it out, feeling the glow of the ooohhhs and aaaahhhs from the other participants.

Tweaking your aims

What are you aiming for when you wake up and face your day?

Are you aiming for perfect? Are you aiming for worthy? Are you aiming for truth? Maybe you’re aiming to be on time?

And… How are you faring on delivering what you’re aiming for? Is it constant target practise for an ever-elusive hit on the bulls-eye - or are you nailing it? Nailing it feels…

150 celebratory things I'm grateful for

We all have things going on in our lives that just happen and we seemingly forget about. I’m talking about the ‘good things’ - things to be celebrated! Why forget' them? Why not raise them up and celebrate them with gratitude by giving them some shine-time? In this blog I list 150 things I celebrate and give gratitude to and for in my life and invite you to write your own list too…

Death, Connection, Unity & Love

Death is just so final. No matter how you look at it, it really is the end of a life. How we deal with it comes from experiencing it and the closer the connection is, the more real the ‘dealing’ is. The flip side for me, from the pain and grief of death, is the unity and love that results - if we let it.

I remember when my grandmother passed many years ago…

Don’t stop me now I’m having such a good time…

(about a 2 minute read)

How to ditch procrastination and fear, and grow some confidence instead. This week I write about shining stars and who we are!

Last Friday night my husband asked me and our daughter if we wanted to come out to a bar and see a DJ/karaoke gig he was checking out for his work ‘do’ later in the year…

Courage and heart go hand in hand

(Less than a 2 minute read)

Lately there have been quite a few times when my courage reserves have been challenged and drained and I’ve had to do things I’d rather not. Which brings me to considering times when choosing between what I want to do and what I think I have to do, become acts of courage that are not always directly aligned to my authenticity…

How do you deal with your emotions?

When my emotions are at the positive end of the spectrum (and definitely where I prefer to reside) it’s easy for me to deep dive into the feeling and share the glory. On the other hand, when my buttons get pushed and emotions enter from the less positive end of the emotional spectrum, how I deal with emotions and situations that trigger these buttons is often less complementary. I have to admit…

Clammy hand moments...

When you’re confronted by fears, how you deal with them is more important than what causes them. Let’s face it - things happen and fear ‘buttons’ get pushed, and once they do it’s the ‘working through the clammy hand moments’ that takes you to solutions...

What’s beautiful for you?

Yesterday I had a beautiful day! Firstly, I woke up and I see waking up as something pretty divine - just saying! Then, after a morning of work, my daughter and I went out and met up with a friend of ours for lunch. We ate, chatted, laughed, solved problems, planned the future and openly shared our joy together for a couple of hours, thoroughly enjoying each other’s company and beauty.

Creativity

The other day as I read our local paper there was a large advertisement that caught my eye and resonated deeply.

In the article, the link between creativity and expressing one’s self, and the management of New Zealand’s “quiet crisis” (mental health issues), was made evident. This is a resonating ‘strike point’ for me!

Gentle Reminders

Gentle reminders come in mysterious ways and in all shapes and sizes!

Last night I lay awake in bed wondering and ruminating (eekkk!) about the day and the events that had taken place.

It was late and I was tired. I wanted to fall asleep, but instead was tossing and turning. Dozing off just wasn’t happening and the more focus I gave to not sleeping, the more elusive sleep became.

Red wine and ruminating

A couple of weeks ago I wrote a blog about the rollercoaster of life and ‘lingering in a problem’ and several of the comments I received in relation to ‘lingering’ referred to ‘lingering too long’ which leads to ‘ruminating’.

So today, let me tell you a story about ruminating...

Once upon a time, a long time ago... which is how all good stories start ;),

Happiness 101.1

Who doesn’t want happiness?

Apparently the number one human goal is to be happy.

But have you ever stopped and considered what ‘happiness’ really looks like for you?

Is it a new car, or a bigger house, or a sunny day, or a singing dog…

The Rollercoaster of Life

Here are the big highs from my week…

Authenticity 101

The other night I taught a Law of Attraction workshop on authenticity and self-love. One of my parting lines to the participants was to make “I believe in myself” their daily mantra.

I told them they are the resource, and if they wanted to live their best life then they needed to develop…

YOU matter!

Sometimes when it feels like the world is in chaos, it is easy to forget to look within and take care of number 1. You matter, and even though helping others and sharing grace and love outwardly is a beautiful part of the human experience, sharing it internally is essential and helps to balance the flow of energy, prevent depletion or imbalance, and as an added bonus, gives that outward expression extra substance.

Blessings in Disguise

Sometimes, in retrospect, it’s easy to see that actually it’s not the actual event that is important but the reason behind it happening. Reigniting the creativity within by committing to following through for a whole set of different reasons, can be a blessing in disguise!
